Last competing in the Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich® Tires back in 2019, Loni Unser will return in 2021 with Hixon Motor Sports (HMS). Bringing the famous Unser name to both the Mazda and IMSA paddocks, Loni has inked a deal to compete in the opening two events of 2021 as she works towards a full season of competition in MX-5 Cup with the goal of winning the Rookie of the Year honors.

Continuing to add to their already stout Mazda MX-5 Cup driver lineup, Preston Pardus has solidified his position within the Hixon Motor Sports (HMS) program. Set to attack the Daytona International Speedway road course for the opening rounds of the Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich® Tires, Pardus will look to fight with two chances for the race win during the IMSA Rolex 24 weekend.

For the fifth consecutive year, Lemons of Love is offering the chance to win a Mazda MX-5 Cup race car. Again, the charity is partnering with Flis Performance of Daytona Beach, Florida, to construct this highly sought-after race car. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Lemons of Love, a nonprofit cancer care organization in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

IndyCar officials have announced that the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg has moved from its original March date to April 23 – 25. The change comes amid continued concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. The Grand Prix of St. Petersburg will continue to host Rounds Three and Four of the Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires.

It won’t be long before the 2020 Mazda Shootout winner, Aaron Jeansonne, will make his debut in the Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires. Since 2008, the generous scholarship that Mazda awards Shootout winners (which has continued to grow and is now valued at more than $110,000) has opened doors for numerous drivers.
