For the fifth year in a row, Lemons of Love is giving away a fully-built Mazda MX-5 Cup race car for the cost of a $100 ticket, and all proceeds will benefit Lemons of Love.

With the first two green flags of 2021 this past weekend at the Daytona International Speedway, Copeland Motorsports kicked off their Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich® Tires with speed but results that did not match. Earning six top-fifteen results, the Maryland-based program will shift their focus to rounds three and four at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg at the end of April.

Team communication was key for Michael Carter’s Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires victory at Daytona International Speedway on Friday. A well-timed pass with a full-course yellow on the horizon secured Carter the win in the second race of the double-header season opener.

For the first 41 minutes of the Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires race, the top four cars never traded places and never left each other’s bumpers. But in the final four minutes, it was impossible to predict who would take the win in a mad dash to the finish line. With a strong slingshot out of the final corner, Gresham Wagner claimed victory.

The Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich® Tires will kick off its partnership with the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) at Daytona International Raceway this week with a season-opening double header race event. It is the first time the series has raced at the legendary circuit, with the races set to be staged as part of the Rolex 24 At Daytona event to kick off the 2021 season.
