Sunny skies greeted the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin field as they arrived at Barber Motorsports Park Sunday morning. It may have been a stark change in the weather from Saturday, but the podium looked rather familiar. Tyler Gonzalez (No. 57 BSI Racing) took the top step once again, followed by teammate Westin Workman (No. 13 BSI Racing).

As one of only two drivers in the field to have previously raced Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup at Barber Motorsports Park, Tyler Gonzalez (No. 57 BSi Racing) put the lessons he learned five years ago at the picturesque Alabama circuit to claim a robust third victory of the season in Saturday’s Round Five race.

After two long months since the checkered flag flew in St. Pete, the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin is back in action this weekend at Barber Motorsports Park. The lush 2.38-mile Alabama circuit has not hosted the series since 2019, which means few drivers on the current grid have the experience of racing Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup there.
