Reigning series champion Jared Thomas (No. 96 JTR Motorsports Engineering) held off two of his teammates to take his first victory of the year by 0.079-second.

Making the most of the newly-repaved circuit, Aaron Jeansonne (No. 24 JTR Motorsports Engineering) topped all of Friday’s Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin track sessions at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. This included qualifying, where he set a new qualifying lap record.
