RACER KASHIMA MAKES A GLOBAL MAZDA MX-5 CUP SERIES DEBUT THIS WEEKEND AT GP OF TEXAS

Stevensville, Maryland (March 21st, 2018), This Saturday at GP of Texas,
Racer Kashima from Tokyo, Japan will return to the United States to compete in the Global Mazda MX-5 Cup Series. In partnership with Copeland Motorsports, Racer will be driving Car No. 7.

“We are very excited to work with Racer Kashima and very proud to have the first “global” entry into the series from Japan. It’s equally thrilling to have a Japanese driver under our tent piloting our Japanese made car and represent Mazda, stated Dean Copeland. “We believe this move will draw the attention from top international racers from around the world for the 2019 series”.

Kashima returns to racing in the United States after following race winning success in 2017 when he placed second overall in the All Japan EV Grand Prix of Electric Vehicles with all class wins.

“The time is now, to return to the United States, and make my mark in the Mazda MX-5 Cup Series” stated Kashima. “It seems like everything fell into place at the right time to have this opportunity to work with Dean and the whole Copeland Motorsports team. I am so excited to get on the racetrack and be in a Mazda, which as Dean stated is a Japanese made car. It looks amazing, and I know it's going to perform very well,” said Kashima.

Kashima has a long history of racing dating back to 1995 where he won the racing kart championship. He participated in the Formula Toyota, All Japan F3, Japanese Endurance Race from the Toyota Team. In 2001, he started challenging in United States. After going through several single seater categories, in 2004, he first played from Sam Schmidt Motorsports to Indy Lights, from the qualifying 4 th place; he showed an active part in the victory fight.
