January 15, 2026 – JTR Motorsports has added Peter Atwater to their team for the 2026 Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup season. Driving the #26 JTR Motorsports entry, Atwater will join a strong JTR driver lineup as he and the team prepare for another highly competitive year in North America’s premier spec sports car championship.
Atwater brings momentum and experience to an already strong JTR Motorsports driver lineup, reinforcing the team’s commitment to competing at the front of the MX-5 Cup grid in 2026.

The 2026 Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup season will officially begin with the first two wheel-to-wheel races of the year at Daytona International Speedway, taking place January 21–23 during the famed Rolex 24 at Daytona weekend. Racing on the legendary high banks alongside one of endurance racing’s most prestigious events provides a high-profile and high-intensity start to the season.
