Migliore Motorsports is proud to introduce Rookie John Geesbreght to the team for the Battery Tender® Global Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires®.
Geesbreght recently competed with Migliore in the SRO Winter Invitational last February at The Thermal Club in Thermal, California. In that race, Geesbreght had an average lap time of 2:25.6, with a first-place finish in the TC America Class.
The 17-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas turned heads on Wednesday, July 1st in his first series test at Mid-Ohio impressing multi-time IMSA championship winning Migliore team owner Nico Castellaccio immensely. John proved to show his worth with his fastest lap time of 1:37.774 finishing his second session P9 of 18 competitors.
Co-Driver joining the team is Kevin Conway former NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year and Blancpain Super Trofeo Series World Champion. In 2016, Castellaccio and Conway joined together for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series where the duo found success at COTA when driver W. James had a first-place finish in the LB Cup.
It was Johns first time on the 2.4 mile road course at Mid-Ohio, after the second session John recalled “I felt mid pack but saw many opportunities to pick up some time” overall the Rookie felt pretty good about his first experience with his fellow MX-5 competitors.
“I am very excited to run MX-5 with John, Nico and I have worked together since 2013 and I have tremendous respect for him as a person. Mazda MX-5 Cup is a great series with amazing cars.” Conway said.
[Castellaccio] “Everyone at Global MX-5 and Flis Performance has been extremely helpful to us and with the 2018 ND2 conversion and the new 2020 chassis. We are extremely excited to run this season.”
In addition to his hands-on experience in the newly acquired Mazda MX-5 ND2, John also participated in the iRacing MX5eSeries during track quarantine time. He looks to translate that virtual experience with his fellow drivers into results on the track.
