SUPPLY, N.C. – August 13, 2026, McCumbee McAleer Racing (MMR) is excited to announce the addition of 16-year-old Nashville, Tennessee native Seth Tozer to its Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin driver lineup. Seth will make his highly anticipated professional series debut next weekend, August 21-23, at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR).
A full-time high school junior, Tozer is a turnkey driver who is completely ready to go. He joins the MMR squad after a consistent and impressive growth curve, having successfully transitioned from competitive karting into auto racing via Miatas and Kenyon Midgets.
People in the paddock are consistently intrigued by Tozer's highly versatile background. Aside from running the MX-5 Cup, the 16-year-old concurrently races for Jeff Hill Trailer Sales in the USSA Kenyon Midget Series. Proving he is a highly adaptable and versatile driver, Tozer tackles both asphalt and dirt oval tracks in the series that includes a 13-race season across Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.
Setting His Sights on the Prize
Seth firmly placed himself on the MMR radar after he exceeded expectations during a Mazda MX-5 Cup test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in April. By aligning with MMR, a team with a proven championship pedigree, Tozer is actively working toward his goals of winning championships and joining a professional driver development program.
"We are looking forward to having Seth join the MMR program starting with the next round of the season at VIR," said Chad McCumbee, co-owner of McCumbee McAleer Racing. "After a few test sessions, I have been impressed not only on track, but off the track with his approach. We are all excited about the future and look forward to being a part of Seth's development!"
"First, I am very excited to be joining MMR. For a rookie to be able to join a team as good as them, it is certainly the right way to gain a footing in the series," said Tozer. "From the events I have already done with MMR, the people on the team are great and are always putting in the effort to get better and push for the results everyone wants. I'm also very excited to race in the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup.
I have loved watching the races for a very long time before I had even started kart racing. So, it truly feels incredible to be able to race in such a competitive series. I am looking forward to making my first start at VIR and my second at Indy!"
