May 11, 2022 – After a nine-week hiatus from the Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich® Tires series, rookie Max Opalski is anxious to get back on track. Ready to join Copeland Motorsports this weekend at the famed Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, Opalski is fresh off a test event at the Ohio facility in his Mazda as well as a podium result in the World Racing League.
“We may have had a break in the series, but as a driver we always look for a way to race,” explained Opalski. “Thankful for my partners and family, I was able to travel to Mid-Ohio twice in the past few months to compete in the WRL and NASA events and had success in both. With experience in both wet and dry conditions, I feel that I am prepared and ready for the weekend.”
With a top-ten result during the opening round of the series at the Daytona International Speedway, Opalski is looking to better that result this weekend and reset his career best finish in the series.
Opalski added “I have been quite busy in our break from the series. Not only have we raced in Mid-Ohio twice, but I have been training on the sim as much as possible and staying busy with other sporting activities to stay in shape, sharp and ready to go. I owe a great result to my Copeland Motorsports team and will look to work with my teammates to achieve that this weekend.”
Max Opalski will hit the track Friday for a pair of practice sessions on Friday with qualifying and race one of the weekend on Saturday. Sunday will feature round six of the Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BFGoodrich® Tires. Unable to come to the event and experience the thrill trackside?
