June 22, 2022 – With a couple of events in the Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BF Goodrich Tires under his belt in 2022, Max Opalski is returning to the track this weekend at a new facility for him. Set to do battle in the series that provides the closest wheel-to-wheel competition in North America, Opalski is looking to turn his season around this weekend at the 3.37-mile, 11-turn Watkins Glen International Raceway in Corning, New York.

“It has been a difficult season to date, but we are keeping our heads high and will look to turn that around this weekend,” explained Max Opalski. “We have had some good runs recently in both the World Racing League and NASA series and will look to carry that momentum into this weekend.”

Racing out of the Copeland Motorsports stable, Opalski, a rookie in the MX-5 Cup program, has shown the speed to compete in the top-ten but lacked the racing luck needed. In the high-speed game of chess that the MX-5 series is noted for, the Colorado resident has continued to gain experience that will help better his career.

Opalski continued, “I am learning so much each and every weekend. The Copeland Motorsports crew has been in touch with my every need as a driver, and this weekend I will look to reward them with a good result. The goals are set, now it is time to achieve them.”

Set to hit the track on Friday for a pair of practice sessions, qualifying and the first race of the weekend will take place on Saturday. Sunday will be the home of race two on the weekend as the series will cross over the midway point this weekend.
