March 3, 2026 – JTR Motorsports kicked off its second event weekend in style on the Streets of St. Petersburg, competing in the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup series alongside the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. Taking on the barrier-lined street course, JTR drivers delivered a pair of podium results, and now shift their focus to the next one.
Fielding a strong seven-car lineup, the team entered Jared Thomas in the #96, Gresham Wagner in the #5, John Salerno in the #34, Justin Gravett in the #8, Jameson Riley in the #66, Chris Hutter in the #81, and Glenn McGee in the #69.
The tight and technical temporary street circuit provided nonstop action throughout the doubleheader weekend. After competitive qualifying sessions and two hard-fought races, Jared Thomas emerged as one of the standout performers, claiming second place in both Race One and Race Two to secure a pair of podium finishes for the team.
Thomas battled at the front of the field each time the green flag waved, navigating the unforgiving concrete walls and late race restarts to bring home consistent and impressive results. Gresham Wagner also delivered a strong performance for JTR Motorsports, breaking into the top-ten and adding valuable championship points for the organization.
Across the rest of the lineup, the team showed depth and pace in one of the most competitive paddocks in North America, continuing to build momentum early in the season.
“We are extremely proud of the entire group this weekend,” explained JTR Motorsports’ Dave Thomas. “To walk away from St. Petersburg with two podium finishes for Jared and a top-ten from Gresham speaks volumes about the preparation and execution from everyone at JTR Motorsports. Street courses are always challenging, but our drivers stayed disciplined and raced smart. It is a good result, but there’s still work to do.”
JTR Motorsports will quickly shift its focus to its Porsche Sprint Challenge efforts this weekend at Sebring International Raceway, March 6-8. Fans can catch all the action live from Florida on the Porsche Motorsport YouTube page as the team looks to carry its strong momentum into another competitive race weekend.
