June 2, 2026 — Jeremy Fletcher is set to return to the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by Michelin competition this weekend as the championship heads to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for rounds five and six of the 2026 season.
Fletcher and the McCumbee McAleer Racing team have not competed in MX-5 Cup since the second event of the season on the Streets of St. Petersburg in February. Since then, Fletcher has remained sharp behind the wheel collecting valuable race wins and podium finishes. Now, the reigning 2025 Mazda MX-5 Cup Champion turns his attention back to one of the most competitive single-make championships in North America.
After the lengthy break between events, Fletcher currently sits eighth in the championship standings after the opening four races and remains firmly within striking distance as the season enters its next phase.
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course presents a unique challenge for drivers with its fast-flowing layout, elevation changes, and multiple overtaking opportunities. The 2.258-mile circuit has long been a favorite among competitors and is expected to produce the close racing that has become synonymous with the MX-5 Cup series.
"It feels great to be getting back into the MX-5 Cup car,” explained Fletcher. “It's been a few months since St. Petersburg, but we've stayed busy racing in other series and building momentum throughout the season. Mid-Ohio is a track I really enjoy, and the goal is to come away with strong points and put ourselves back in the fight near the top of the championship. The competition is always incredibly tight in MX-5 Cup, so we're looking forward to another exciting weekend with the McCumbee McAleer Racing team."
As the defending series champion returns to Mazda MX-5 Cup competition, Fletcher will look to capitalize on his recent racing experience and begin climbing the championship standings at Mid-Ohio. The race weekend will begin Friday with two practice sessions before qualifying and Race One taking place on Saturday. The second and final race of the weekend will run on Sunday.
