January 5, 2023 – Joining Hixon Motor Sports for the last few event weekends of the 2022 Idemitsu Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by BFGoodrich Tires (MX-5 Cup) series, Hixon Motor Sports (HMS) has re-signed Ethan Tyler for a 2023 campaign. As a former karting champion and multi-time Spec Miata winner, Tyler brings added depth to the HMS program and will begin his quest for race wins and podium results during the opening event in January at the famed Daytona International Speedway.

“2022 was a great start as we were getting comfortable with the series, car, competition, and tracks,” explained Tyler. “In 2023, I am really excited to be joining Hixon Motor Sports again for the complete MX-5 Cup season with a bit more experience under my belt as well as work with another great group of drivers that Bryan and Shea have already assembled. It is going to be a great year!”

“Ethan is a great kid and with a more disciplined program this coming season, he could be a driver that turns a lot of heads,” added HMS Owner, Bryan Hixon. “He performed well in the select events he raced with us last year, and I think Tyler learned a lot. Putting that new experience to work in 2023 will make him that much better and more of an asset to our program and our goal to become both Team and Driver Champions in 2023.”

Given the combination of graduating from college, the MX-5 cup, and starting a new job in 2022, Ethan Tyler was unable to compete in the Spec Miata Series Championship at the Autobahn Country Club but utilized his race weekends to hone his skills as he worked to put together his 2023 program.

Tyler added, “I had a lot going on last year, but I am committed to racing in 2023 and putting my full focus and attention into making sure that I am at the top of the MX-5 Cup result sheets each and every race weekend.”

Team Manager, Shea Holbrook, added, “Ethan was a great addition to our program last season and will be a pillar in our goal for a successful season in 2023. We have all been working hard and can’t wait for the first wheel-to-wheel action in just a few short weeks.”
