January 14, 2026 – JTR Motorsports is pleased to confirm that Chris Allen will make his Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup debut with the team, driving the #46 JTR Motorsports–prepared Mazda in one of North America’s most competitive single-make racing series. With a history of success in motorsports, Allen is looking to add some hardware to his trophy case in 2026.

Allen joins JTR Motorsports, bringing a diverse, well-rounded racing background with experience across multiple disciplines, including Pirelli GT4 America, Weathertech LMP3, CODE Class 11 and additional race programs spanning circuits around the world. His résumé highlights both adaptability and race craft as he prepares to take on the unique challenges of the Mazda MX-5 Cup championship.

“What could be better than a bunch of screaming Miatas around Daytona with IMSA?” said Allen. “I’m eternally grateful to have Cannonball Club Philadelphia as a sponsor for this year, it was a tough sell, but being the boss might have helped... My MX-5 Cup debut at VIR was a challenge last year so this time I’m going in with more experience racing spec series like SM. I can’t wait to get out there and have JTR engineering and supporting the car, their team and results speak for themselves.”

From the team’s perspective, Allen’s addition further strengthens an already competitive lineup as JTR Motorsports continues to build its MX-5 Cup program.

“Chris brings a tremendous amount of experience from a wide range of racing disciplines, and that versatility will serve him well in the MX-5 Cup,” added Dave Thomas, Team Manager of JTR Motorsports. “Our focus is to provide him with the equipment, engineering support, and tools necessary to compete in this highly competitive series. We’re confident that with our program and his talent, Chris will be well-positioned to fight for strong results.”

With Allen set to pilot the #46 entry, JTR Motorsports looks forward to seeing him take on the ultra-competitive Mazda MX-5 Cup field as the team continues preparations for the upcoming season.

The 2026 Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup season will officially begin with the first two wheel-to-wheel races of the year at Daytona International Speedway, taking place January 21–23 during the famed Rolex 24 at Daytona weekend.
