DAYTONA, FL – BSI Racing returns to the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin, May 2nd, at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. BSI’s Tyler Gonzalez finds himself right in the thick of the points championship as he enters the weekend in 5th place.
Gonzalez is joined by 2024 Rookie of the Year Westin Workman, 2025 Shootout runner-up Helio Meza, Christian Hodneland, Ethan Tyler, and Damon Ockey. The 2.3-mile, 17-turn road course will present a unique challenge to series competitors who are unfamiliar with the track.
This will also be the second race of the season where the series runs in conjunction with IndyCar, giving fans the chance to catch the excitement of open-wheel action once more.
Workman, now in his second season, will look to carry momentum into the weekend, after a successful P2 finish at COTA the weekend prior.
“The championship race is on,” said Team Owner, Shea Holbrook.
“We’ve seen the podium twice this season, and the top step once already. We’re carrying momentum into one of the most beautiful tracks in the country, and we know what we’re capable of. I feel like any of our drivers can contribute and I expect some great results this weekend. It should be a lot of fun.”
The team will unload on Wednesday and Thursday with a track walk to follow, and practices beginning on Friday. All races can be streamed on YouTube, or at IMSA.tv and racer.com, all season long.
