The 22-year-old driver will make his series debut.
Gutierrez is an up-and-coming race car driver competing in Spec Miata and now making his debut in the Mazda MX-5 Cup. Alejandro Gutierrez quotes:
First time at VIR. What are your thoughts going into this race?
“It’s my first time racing at VIR and in the MX-5 Cup, so my focus is to learn quickly and adapt. Getting test time in different conditions gave me confidence heading into the weekend. The competition will be tough and a clear step up from what I’m used to, but I’m excited to take it all in and challenge myself against such a strong field.”
You’re making your MX-5 Cup debut. What do you hope to accomplish in the races?
“My goal is to get comfortable in the car and run clean, consistent races. MX-5 Cup is extremely competitive, so for me, this debut is about gaining experience, learning racecraft in this environment, and showing I can progress each session.”
