FORT MYERS, Fla. (Aug. 1, 2025) — AAG Racing announced today that Rocco Pasquarella and primary partner The Chicane Club will join the team’s driver lineup for the remainder of the 2025 Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup presented by Michelin season.

The 18-year-old South Florida native will make his series debut at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), Aug. 22–24, and return to the grid for the season finale at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta during the iconic Petit Le Mans weekend, Oct. 8–10.

Pasquarella brings a strong resume and deep commitment to his racing career. He began karting at age 6 and quickly rose through the ranks, earning multiple national karting championships before advancing to cars. He tested in Formula 2000 before transitioning to sports cars, where he debuted as an invitational driver in the Spec MX-5 Championship at the 2023 SCCA Runoffs to help announce their 2024 series with the SCCA Hoosier Super Tour.

He opened the 2024 season with a pole position and race win during the SCCA Hoosier Super Tour opener and went on to finish fifth overall in the 2024 HST championship standings.

The Florida driver broadened his international experience by participating in the Muehlner Motorsports LMP3 Shootout, where he won at Motorland Aragón and advanced to the final round held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Since his 2023 debut, he has grown in every aspect of his on- and off-track development. Mazda’s driver support has played a vital role in that progression—offering guidance from motorsports staff, team coaches and mechanics. Through this, he has gained a deeper understanding of both race craft and the business side of professional motorsports.

Off the track, Pasquarella has been relentless: attending multiple MX-5 Cup races during the 2024–25 season to study the competition and series dynamics, while also building relationships with IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge teams and manufacturers as he builds a long-term path toward a career in IMSA’s WeatherTech Championship.

See Pasquarella and the No. 58 Chicane Club Mazda MX-5 on track at VIR Aug. 22–24. As part of the IMSA ladder, the Mazda MX-5 Cup delivers some of the closest and most exciting racing in North America. Events are broadcast live on IMSA.tv and YouTube, with tens of thousands of fans attending in person—offering strong exposure for teams, sponsors and drivers alike.

“I’m honored to make my Mazda MX-5 Cup debut with AAG and represent them on such a competitive stage,” said Pasquarella. “My focus is simple: learn fast, race hard and earn my place in this incredible field of drivers. It’s special to return to VIR, where I first debuted with Mazda at the 2023 SCCA Runoffs and now make my Cup debut at the same track. VIR and Petit Le Mans are two iconic venues, and I can’t wait to begin this next chapter.”

“Rocco is a great addition to our team. He has proven that he is a talented young driver in the Mazda ranks. He will be a great representative of our team for the series. I look forward to seeing him behind the wheel of the AAG MX-5 Cup car,” said Chris Clarke, owner of AAG Racing.

“On behalf of the entire team here at The Chicane Club, we are so excited to be working with Rocco as he takes on the last two rounds of Mazda MX-5 Cup this year. Over the last decade, we have worked extensively with racers across all the IMSA series and feel strongly that Rocco has the right blend of skills, attitude and determination to be one of our sport's next great pros,” said Greg De Giorgis, founder and CEO of The Chicane Club. “We've worked closely with Rocco here in our sims at The Club and will be coaching him on location, at both VIR and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, so we're confident he's going to have a very strong showing. Let’s go, Rocco.”
