Todd Lamb Extends Pole & Win Records in Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup
ATLANTA, Ga. - Todd Lamb, driving with Atlanta Motorsports Group (AMG), continued to set records and extend his championship points lead in Rounds Six & Seven of the Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup in the No. 84 Luna-C/Traqmate Mazda. Lamb qualified on pole and led flag to flag at both Barber Motorsports Park and Autobahn Raceway the previous two weekends, making it a perfect five poles and five wins in five series starts this season in SCCA Pro Racing competition.

Lamb began the MX-5 Cup season at a huge points deficit,
missing Round One of the series due to a conflict with another race
series. However, a rule that allows each
driver to drop the points from their lowest finish gives Lamb the opportunity
to contend for the championship with solid finishes the rest of the season.
With six rounds of the series complete and four races remaining, Lamb holds the
points lead with drops factored in and continues to extend that lead at each
event.
"It has been an amazing year so far. We expected to be
in contention for the championship, but this has turned into a perfect season
with five wins in-a-row. AMG has provided me with a Mazda that is prepped and
setup very well, so all I have to do is apply my experience and racecraft to
get the job done,” Lamb said.
Lamb dedicated his recent win at Autobahn Raceway in Joliet, Ill.,
to friend and fellow racer Kevin Molloy, who lost his long battle with cancer
on July 25th. "It is a sad deal, but it is nice to be able to get a win
for Kevin - our thoughts and condolences go out to his family."
Racing since the age of 10, Lamb has driven in numerous
types of cars and series, from shifter karts to open wheel to front wheel
drive, and has been successful in every series he has run with two national
championships to his credit. With an engineering degree, Lamb is able to apply
his mechanical knowledge to racecar setup, giving him an edge on the
competition. Mazda has been a part of Lamb's racing career since 2007, when he
began racing in Spec Miata competition to keep his skills sharp between pro
racing weekends.
"The MX-5 Cup series is a lot of fun and a very natural
progression from Spec Miata. The support from Mazda and Playboy is exceptional,
and SCCA Pro knows how to put on a good show. I would encourage anyone who is
interested in stepping into pro racing for the first time to give the MX-5's a
drive."
Round Seven of the series is August 14-16 at Road America in
Elkhart Lake, Wis. Races are available to view a few weeks after each event on
YouTube, as well as on network television in selected areas. AMG currently has
cars available for upcoming events at Road America,
Miller Motorsports Park,
and Virginia International Raceway. Call AMG's Team Manager Tony at (916)
