Hale Motorsports Puts Patron on Podium at Mazda Raceway
OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. - Hale Motorsports has been involved in the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup Series since its inception in 2006. Randy Hale, owner of Hale Motorsports, has put together a very strong team for 2009. With two races completed in the 10-race schedule, Hale Motorsports has two top-10 finishes and sent a message throughout the paddock at Mazda Raceway by finishing on the podium for the first time in MX-5 Cup competition. The result comes from the 2009 team gelling around Randy Hale and performance tuning engineer Jim Bell, owner of Bell Motorsports a multi-championship winning sports car racing business.

Hale motorsports had a four-car effort at Mazda Raceway with
each driver turning competitive race times.
The bright green and orange Patron Tequila cars showed up well in the Southern California sun.
All four cars qualified inside the same second for the race. Each team Patron driver got a clean start at
the beginning of the race and used smart high-speed decisions to stay out of
trouble in the early going. The No. 92
Patron Tequila/NetEvidence/Alliance1 car driven by Stan Wilson worked up to the
sixth position from a 13th starting point when the full-course yellow came out
for two laps to retrieve a car from the gravel trap. On the restart, Wilson, got a perfectly timed start and
rocketed to third place following the championship leader, Marc Miller of team
MER, and race leader Todd Lamb of team AMG into Turn One.
The late laps of the race saw the orange and black Patron
car up to second place, but at the checkered flag, the final result was a solid
third. Team Patron now sits fifth in the
Championship standings only eight points out of second place overall. The season is young, and team Patron is
looking forward to challenging for their first win at the next race.
Coming off a solid weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca,
team Patron is seeking the first team win at the double header event in Millville, NJ.
