MX-5 Cup Team Hooverspeed Relocates and Renames
CAMERON PARK, Calif. - Hooverspeed, which campaigns cars in the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup and Spec Miata series, announced today that it will permanently relocate its operations to Buford, Ga. Furthermore, in order to reflect its new location and business focus, the operation will now be known as Atlanta Motorsports Group (AMG).

The move, which took place in February of 2009, will relocate
AMG into a 42,000 square foot facility shared with experienced race car and
motor builders Kinetic Motorsports. This location puts AMG within 15 minutes of
historic Road Atlanta, providing convenient access to a world-class race track and
many more of the country's best circuits.
"With our growing involvement in MX-5 Cup, this
very central location makes much more sense for our operational
headquarters," AMG team owner Jason Hoover said. "We feel like the
move is further proof of our ever-strengthening commitment to pro racing."
Its shop space within Kinetic's state-of-the-art
facility and access to their substantial infrastructure will undoubtedly give
AMG a leg up on the competition for the 2009 MX-5 Cup season. The team's
drivers accounted for three of the top eight drivers in the 2008 season points
standings, including the Championship runner-up Todd Buras and multi-race
winner Brad Rampelberg. AMG currently has arrive-and-drive rides available to
funded drivers for the upcoming season.
AMG is also using the move to further improve its
level of service to club racers.
"Relocating is a great move for both our
business and our customers,” Hoover
added. "When you consider the popularity and competitiveness of the Spec Miata
series in the region, we feel like putting our roots down in Georgia and
leveraging our relationship with Kinetic will help us serve racers much
better.”
Kinetic's Sunbelt
brand of engines have proven to be the leading motors in many forms of racing,
from Spec Miata to SPEED World Challenge to the Grand Am Rolex Series. They
were the first to provide top-tier professionally built motors for Spec Miata,
and continue to develop on that success with every passing season. In keeping
with its commitment to providing the highest level of performance to its
customers, AMG will be partnering with Kinetic Sunbelt Engines for all of its
regional and national Spec Miata powerplant needs.
AMG plans to offer a full range of services to club
racers participating in regional and national competition, including tub-up
turnkey builds, race car maintenance, race prep/performance tuning,
arrive-and-drive packages and race car rentals. For those looking to develop
their track driving skills or reward their employees for a job well done, AMG
will be expanding its business to include track day (HPDE) support and a full
range of hosting options for corporate events.
Atlanta Motorsports Group physical and mail address,
effective immediately, is: 6000 Holiday Road, Buford GA 30518.
