2009 Champ Todd Lamb Joins Joins Compass360 For Pirelli World Challenge

Feb. 14, 2012 - ATLANTA, Ga. - Todd Lamb, Playboy MX-5 Cup Champion in 2009, has been signed by Compass360 Racing (C360R) to aid in the team's Pirelli World Challenge Touring Car championship defense.

A long-time competitor of the team in Grand-Am's Continental Tire Sports Car Championship, Lamb will take the helm of the #71 Honda Performance Development Civic Si for the first time at the opening round on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida on March 23rd.

"I'm so thrilled to have the opportunity to race with Compass360 after battling against them in Grand-Am over the past few years," exclaimed Lamb. "I've got some big shoes to fill stepping into the 71 car, but I also know these guys know their Hondas inside-out and am looking forward to working with Ray Lee (Technical Director), Enrico Diano (Crew Chief) and all their crew."

C360R looks to repeat the success achieved in the debut season in the series last year where they won the triple-crown of Team, Manufacturer (Honda) and Driver (Lawson Aschenbach) championships. With Aschenbach moving to GT class in a Porsche, the team tapped Lamb to replace him.

"Todd's got a lot of experience in our kind of cars, having raced Acura RSX-S's  in 2007 and 2008," remarked Thomson. "Then he had that amazing year in MX-5 Cup in '09, and has been driving Mazdas against us for the past few years in the Continental series. He'll be a good addition to the squad and will work with our other drivers to get the maximum out of each weekend."

Lamb won the SCCA Pro 2009 MX-5 Cup championship in dominant fashion with seven poles and eight wins, building on his 2007 NASA National Spec Miata championships in 2007 and 2008.

Todd joins Shea Holbrook and Ryan Winchester as the third confirmed team driver, with the driver of the fourth C360R Honda still to be announced.

The 2012 Pirelli World Challenge presented by the SCCA schedule consists of 14 races over six weekends. Races will take place on a variety of circuits across the United States and Canada ranging from a street circuit in St. Petersburg, FL to the world renowned Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California. Catch all the action on NBC Sports Network, formerly the Versus Channel.
